Houston GLBT Family Attorneys

Helping Same-Sex Couples With Family Law Matters for 25 Years

At Moore & Hunt, our focus is on families. We pride ourselves on having been in business fighting for same sex families for the last 25 years. We are among a handful of lawyers in the Houston metro area who can say that about ourselves. We have repeat referrals from satisfied clients who know other families in need of open minded attorneys to help with their legal issues.

Contact Moore & Hunt for more information about our legal services at 713-522-4282 or send us an e-mail.

As the Texas family law has changed, the ability to make our laws work in favor of same sex and non-married couples has increased. Having been part of this progression for the last 26 years, our attorneys stay up to date on all family law and we have learned from and adapted to these changes over the years.

Our goal as a law firm is to protect the rights of all modern families, same sex or opposite sex, married or domestic partnered, and our practice is focused on the issues most relevant to these families. We enjoy helping families come together and we're there if they need to transition to a different form. We stress using Collaborative Family Law to help parents learn to cooperate, even when they no longer live together or even like each other.

For information on obtaining amended birth certificates for same-sex parents please visit the Texas Department of State Health Services website: https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/revised-policies.aspx or call our office for assistance.

Houston GLBT Estate Planning Attorneys

Having a plan in place in case of emergency or catastrophe, with the necessary legal documents in place, saves a lot of pain and heartache in the long run. There are times when you may need someone to make an important decision for you because you're incapacitated, or because you simply happen to be out of the country. Either way, having a system in place to ensure that your life continues smoothly is a good idea. Fortunately, Texas state law allows an individual to clarify and protect their relationships, their estates and their own person by executing certain documents.

Taking the time to discuss your estate plan with us will save both money and trouble in the long run. We work with our clients to establish what their current assets are and to make sure they have the basic "foundation" legal documents in place, like Wills, General and a Medical Powers of Attorney, Advance to Physicians ("living wills") and HIPAA Authorizations. All of this works together to keep the individual safe and in control of his/her own life as long as possible.

Moore & Hunt is pleased to announce that both Debra Hunt and Connie Moore were selected to H Texas Magazine's prestigious Top Lawyers lists for 2011, 2013, 2014. and 2015. Connie was recognized in the area of Family Law and Debra was featured in the Estate Planning and Probate and the Wills, Trusts, and Estates sections of the magazine. The "Houston Top Lawyers" list is comprised of the top 2-4% of lawyers who have beenH-town logo voted and recognized as the best lawyers in Houston. The list is compiled through a combination of peer voting and reader nominations, and the votes are tabulated by the publication's research editor. After background checks are completed, the list of nominees is narrowed down to represent the best lawyers in the Houston and greater Houston area.
